A colleague in the study of crime statistics in Oakland shared with me a link to the recent (January 2022) article in the San Francisco Chronicle by Susie Nielson on a recent release of Oakland historical crime data back to 2004. I don't believe it appeared in the paper edition, to which I subscribe - I would have noticed it. My colleague also sent this graph, which shows a drop below 3,000 crime reports for the entire city for January 2022, and a crime history back to 2004 which makes any monthly number below 4,000 very unusual.
