What is the NCPC?

The Greater Rockridge Neighborhood Crime Prevention Council (a.k.a. "Neighborhood Council") liaises with the Oakland Police Dept. and addresses community concerns about public safety. For general community concerns, see the Rockridge Community Planning Council.

When Crime Occurs

Report a crime If you see a crime in progress, call the police!

Only call 911 from a land line!  Cell phone calls to 911 go directly to CHP in Martinez and have to be forwarded.

From a cell phone call 510-777-3211 which routes directly to OPD dispatch.

To report a crime that has already happened:

Call the non-emergency number 510-777-3333, or fill in OPD's Online Crime Reporting form.  You'll find the link on their Report a Crime page.  We've been warned that the form is easier to fill out on a laptop or desktop than it is on a smartphone.

For MEDICAL OR FIRE EMERGENCIES ONLY, call the Fire Department directly at 510-444-1616.  They respond faster than OPD.

Send OPD an Anonymous Tip

The monthly crime statistics for beats 12Y and 13X, covering May 2026 (revised), and June 2026, are now available on http://rockridgencpc.com, under Resources > Crime Stats and Maps > Rockridge Crime Trends 2025-2026.   Here is the direct link to the page:

2025-2026:  https://tinyurl.com/fux8v49a

Here are direct links to the reports:

May 2026 (revised):   https://tinyurl.com/5553e8vr

June 2026:   https://tinyurl.com/4ah2bfsm

As happened in June for the revised April 2026 report, the revised report for May 2026 (taken on 7/5) was more than 3 times the size of the first report taken the month before (on 6/5).  In the case of May, the initial report from 6/5 listed 32 reports in 12Y and 10 reports in 13X.  The revised May report showed 78 reports in 12Y and 14 reports in 13X.  More than half of the reports in the revised May count were either auto-related property crime or ordinary property crime.  The revised May report shows no crimes against the person in 12Y and only 2 in 13X.

The 2 crimes against the person in 13X are both part of a single case report.  This happens now and then.  I don’t show case reports, but I check them; the crimes are all on the same address at the same date and time.  Both beats have multiple crimes on a single case in the revised May report; I show the multiples at the end of the full list for the beat.

In comparison to May, the June report is extremely small, 25 reports in 12Y and 15 reports in 13X.  June is complicated by the fact that the data show no crime reports after June 25 in 12Y, and nothing after June 27 in 13X.  We either have to assume that there was no crime in either beat during the last week in June, or that there are unreported crimes which will show up in the next revision.  13X in June has one massive multiple case report, 5 charges, mostly crimes against the person but including a single count for possession of drug paraphernalia.  Apart from that one item, the majority of the crimes in both beats are auto-related property crime followed by other property crime.
