What is the NCPC?

The Greater Rockridge Neighborhood Crime Prevention Council (a.k.a. "Neighborhood Council") liaises with the Oakland Police Dept. and addresses community concerns about public safety. For general community concerns, see the Rockridge Community Planning Council.

When Crime Occurs

Report a crime If you see a crime in progress, call the police!

Only call 911 from a land line!  Cell phone calls to 911 go directly to CHP in Martinez and have to be forwarded.

From a cell phone call 510-777-3211 which routes directly to OPD dispatch.

To report a crime that has already happened:

Call the non-emergency number 510-777-3333, or fill in OPD's Online Crime Reporting form.  You'll find the link on their Report a Crime page.  We've been warned that the form is easier to fill out on a laptop or desktop than it is on a smartphone.

For MEDICAL OR FIRE EMERGENCIES ONLY, call the Fire Department directly at 510-444-1616.  They respond faster than OPD.

Send OPD an Anonymous Tip

The monthly crime statistics for beats 12Y and 13X, covering June 2026 (revised), and July 2026, are now available on http://rockridgencpc.com, under Resources > Crime Stats and Maps > Rockridge Crime Trends 2025-2026.   Here is the direct link to the page:

Here are direct links to the reports:

June 2026 (revised):  https://tinyurl.com/4ezz2kfr

July 2026:  https://tinyurl.com/2ufht9490

These 2  months have some of the smallest counts I’ve seen this year.  June’s initial count, done in July, had 40 reports for Rockridge, 25 in 12Y and 15 in 13X.  The August report for revised June had a total of 51 crime reports, 34 in 12Y and 17 in 13X.  Those are the smallest numbers I’ve seen all year.  Even the auto-related property crime, usually the king of crimes, is 15 for 12Y in revised June, and 5 in 12Y in July.  13X had 3 reported auto related property crimes in each month.  What concerns me is an increased number of crimes against the person – yes, it’s 5 in each beat for revised June, but 8 in 12Y and only 1 in 13X in July.  That’s partly because someone classified 4 crimes against the person at 2200 Mountain Blvd. in 13X, in revised June.  I removed them from the list because Mountain Blvd. is not in 13X, but if it were, the 1 report in 13X would have been 5.  I’m also seeing a larger than usual number of reports using guns, and a couple of reports I’ve never seen before, for possession of opium pipes or other dope smoking or injecting equipment.  I still don’t know if the numbers are really down, or if people just aren’t calling the incidents in.  Report it if it happens, folks!
